About OMS
Online Music Solutions was founded in 1987 by the late Paul Forster. Paul was a teacher with the Primary Division
of the Department of Education and Training for thirty years, during which time he excelled as a music specialist
and eventually became a school principal. In 1986 he left the teaching service and decided to work as a freelance
music teacher, specialising in keyboard tuition in primary schools.
Pauls love of music, teaching and children extended into the choral arena where he co-founded the Australian Children's
Choir in 1976 and in 1986 became Director of Music of the Victorian Boys Choir, a post which he held until his retirement in 2000.
Since then, he witnessed the growth of the Kool Keyboard Program and also supervised its expansion to cover
the fields of woodwind, strings, percussion and guitar under its present title of Online Music Solutions. Sadly he passed away in
December 2004 and is greatly missed by all those who knew him, yet his legacy lives on.
Today, highly qualified tutors are responsible for implementing the programs, and these people have been especially
selected also for their ability to relate to primary school children. So successful has this format proved to be, that
a number of secondary school students have also enrolled to continue their involvement.
The instrumental music programs operate on a user pays basis and the group format of the lessons includes
the use of state-of-the-art instruments that are frequently updated to enable students to keep abreast of the most
modern technology as it applies to the particular instruments involved. Printed material has been thoroughly
researched, and very carefully selected to provide the best results.
To date, the programs have enabled thousands of children to develop a love and appreciation of music in its
many forms, and also to move on to other instrumental activities that have led many to choose music
performance and teaching as a career.
